AEREDIUM Rolls Out AERSeal To Secure Smart Contracts Against Single Key Risk
AEREDIUM has launched AERSeal, an end-to-end product built using its threshold key infrastructure called AERKey. The main goal of AERSeal is to remove single private key risk in smart contracts by replacing it with a threshold signing governed by multiple authorized approvers.
Smart contracts often carry powerful administrative permissions, including the ability to mint assets or execute other privileged actions. However, when those permissions depend on a single private key, losing that key can result in permanent loss of access, while theft or compromise can give an attacker control over the contract.
AERSeal addresses this issue by transferring those privileged powers to a threshold key with key shares held separately inside hardware-attested enclaves. The shares are never reconstructed into a complete private key in one place. Instead, signatures are produced through the CGGMP24 threshold signing protocol.
According to AEREDIUM's CEO and Founder Albert Dadon, 'AERSeal is the first complete product to put AERKey into operation from end to end.' The system allows organizations to define who is authorized to approve actions and how many approvals are required through an M-of-N policy. Authorized signatories can then approve actions using their passkeys.
