Africa's Bitcoin Adoption Skyrockets as Paxful CEO Sees Unification Potential
Paxful CEO Ray Youssef believes that Bitcoin has the potential to unite Africa and bring prosperity. Speaking at the inaugural Africa Bitcoin Conference (ABC) in Accra, Ghana, he stated that Africa is leading global Bitcoin adoption.
Africa has seen over 100% growth year after year on Paxful, with average African users conducting many times more transactions than their global counterparts. Youssef thinks that this is due to people in Africa understanding and utilizing peer-to-peer transactions.
Regarding the FTX collapse, Youssef acknowledged that it may affect crypto adoption in Africa but emphasized that Bitcoin is different from other cryptocurrencies, with real-world use cases and trade. He believes that regulation should be controlled and work with innovators, rather than being seen as an enemy to progress.
