AI Agents Favor Stablecoin Over XRP for Micropayments
Recent data from the XRPL AI Hub shows that artificial intelligence (AI) agents on the XRP Ledger have increasingly turned to Ripple's RLUSD stablecoin for micropayments. Over a week, these AI-run wallets processed more than 554,000 transactions while spending only 209 XRP versus 602 RLUSD.
This indicates a preference for the stablecoin over the cryptocurrency in dollar terms, with RLUSD usage being roughly 105% higher. This trend is significant as it points to a potential role split between XRP and RLUSD, with XRP serving more as liquidity and RLUSD as a payment solution.
The shift among AI-run wallets on the XRP Ledger coincided with rising XRP prices in August. At that time, XRP's price was around $1.40, making 209 XRP equivalent to approximately $293 in value compared to $602 for 602 RLUSD.
