AI Agents Set to Drive Blockchain and Crypto Growth, Franklin Templeton Predicts
Asset manager Franklin Templeton believes that AI agents could drive future growth in blockchain and crypto adoption. According to the firm, autonomous AI agents will need low-cost, high-speed payment solutions for transactions between software systems, driving demand for cryptocurrencies.
Sandy Kaul, Head of Digital Assets and Innovation at Franklin Templeton, argues that agentic AI could become one of the leading use cases for blockchain technology. Agentic systems represent the next stage in the evolution of AI technologies, allowing complex multi-step tasks to be completed independently.
The firm forecasts significant growth in the adoption of AI agents, with 38% of organizations planning to use them as 'team members' alongside human employees by 2028. The agentic commerce market could reach $3 trillion to $5 trillion by 2030.
