AI-Blockchain Boom Faces Six Critical Risks: Fidelity
Fidelity Digital Assets has issued a warning to investors about six significant risks that could challenge the prevailing investment thesis that AI agents will drive growth for public blockchains. The report cautions that while AI and blockchain integration is often touted as a guaranteed growth story, there are potential pitfalls that investors should consider.
One of the primary concerns is that closed systems developed by major technology and financial firms could capture demand from AI agents due to superior performance, lower costs, better user experience, and clearer regulatory compliance. This could lead public networks being sidelined despite their decentralized appeal.
Fidelity also notes that increased payment activity on blockchain networks does not necessarily translate into higher value for native tokens. In fact, the fees generated by transactions may remain relatively low, benefiting stablecoin issuers and payment service providers rather than token holders.
