AI Bubble Burst Could Pump Bitcoin to One Million
Arthur Hayes, a prominent cryptocurrency advocate and analyst, believes that an AI bubble burst could redirect funds into Bitcoin's market. In his recent Substack article, Hayes likens AI capital expenditure (AI CAPEX) to 'boring real estate.' He states that eventually, the construction of data centers will slow down, exposing over-leveraged AI companies and weak borrowers and financiers.
Hayes thinks the government will step in under the guise of 'national security,' but misallocated capital will find its way into crypto, pumping Bitcoin to new heights. He predicts that as credit expands against a deceleration of AI CAPEX spend, Bitcoin will bottom and begin a secular rise.
Hayes even goes so far as to say that the authorities will print more money than they did during the 2008 financial crisis, ultimately driving Bitcoin to one million and beyond. He's not alone in his concerns about an AI bubble; Michael Burry, who predicted and benefitted from the 2008 housing crisis, has shorted several AI companies, including Nvidia.
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang is more optimistic, however, stating that the challenge lies in building as fast as the growth. Despite these differing views, Hayes remains confident that an AI bubble burst will benefit Bitcoin's market.
