AI-Driven Attacks Force Boltz to Halt Bitcoin Swap Service
Boltz, a non-custodial Bitcoin bridge, has suspended its swap service indefinitely due to an influx of AI-assisted attacks that have left it struggling to patch vulnerabilities. According to Boltz, users retain control of their assets throughout the process, and no funds were at risk during the suspension.
The company stated that over the past months, they witnessed a steady rise in automated, AI-assisted probing of its infrastructure, resulting in several exploits being contained but not eliminated. The pace of attacks accelerated over the past few days, prompting Boltz to conclude it could no longer safely operate its swap service.
Boltz's API remains available for processing cooperative refunds, and unilateral refunds continue to function normally as they do not depend on Boltz's infrastructure. Customer support also remains accessible to users.
