AI-Driven Threat Looms Over Bitcoin Security
A security researcher has raised concerns about the potential threat of advanced AI to Bitcoin's security. Roman Yampolskiy, a professor of computer science at the University of Louisville, believes that sophisticated AI systems could turn out to be 'really amazing hackers' highly effective at social engineering attacks.
'So I think for an average person, keeping their Bitcoin secure will become almost impossible,' Yampolskiy said in an interview with entrepreneur and investor Anthony Pompliano.
The researcher pointed out that AI lives on networks, which are also used for mining, a process that has led to the development of capable AI models. This connection could potentially put Bitcoin's security at risk.
Yampolskiy warned that advanced AI systems could be highly effective at social engineering attacks, making it difficult for individuals to keep their Bitcoin secure. He also noted that with sophisticated AI, you'd always have something watching and tracking your internet activity.
