AI Expert Warns: 'We Might Be Running Out of Time to Avoid This Outcome'
Bilal Chughtai, a former Google DeepMind researcher, has made a shocking warning about artificial intelligence. He believes that AI could 'kill us all' if left unchecked.
Chughtai worked on AGI safety and alignment research at Google DeepMind before leaving the company in July 2026. In his resignation post on X and LinkedIn, he stated that he is extremely concerned by the default trajectory of AI development.
He is not alone in his concerns. Anthropic scientist Evan Hubinger has also expressed similar views, stating that there is a greater than 10% chance that AI could kill all humans within the next decade.
Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei has called for a slowdown in advanced AI development, warning that without action, these systems could slip beyond human control. This call has been backed by industry leaders Elon Musk and Sam Altman.
