AI Fails Bitcoin Hardware Firm in $130 Million Hack
A Bitcoin hack has left an estimated $130 million in losses for users of Coinkite Inc.'s Coldcard wallets. The Canada-based company behind the affected hardware warned that artificial intelligence failed to detect the software flaw exploited by hackers.
The vulnerability, described as a warning to all companies building Bitcoin hardware and software, was discovered by hackers who used it to drain funds from users' wallets late last week.
Coinkite advised firms using AI to monitor security-critical code to undertake immediate reviews in light of the incident.
