AI Industry Duplicates Crypto's $200M Election Playbook Ahead of 2026
The artificial intelligence industry is mirroring the crypto sector's $200 million political spending campaign from 2024 ahead of the 2026 U.S. elections. Investors have raised $140 million to support AI-backed candidates, echoing the success of crypto groups in electing pro-digital asset lawmakers and pushing stablecoin legislation forward.
However, unlike crypto which received stronger support for digital asset policies following its $200 million campaign, AI backers face local opposition to data centers. This resistance is coupled with $80 million backing risk-focused campaigns, indicating potential regulatory hurdles for the industry.
