AI Models Overlook Popular Crypto Data Aggregators

A new research study conducted by ICODA in partnership with Semrush found that popular crypto data aggregators CoinGecko, CoinMarketCap, and DeFiLlama did not receive any AI citations from ChatGPT and Perplexity across over 100 controlled queries.

The research tested how these AI models cite various sources across four query categories. While other source types consistently appeared in the AI citations, data aggregators were completely absent.

ICODA's AI Visibility Research aimed to understand how ChatGPT and Perplexity rely on external sources for information. The study's findings suggest that these AI models prefer certain types of sources over others.
