AI-Powered Strategy Raises $15 Billion for Bitcoin
Strategy's aggressive Bitcoin accumulation strategy has yielded impressive results, thanks in part to an innovative approach that leveraged artificial intelligence (AI). According to Michael Saylor, the company's founder, AI played a crucial role in designing new financing tools that helped raise $15 billion for Bitcoin purchases.
The challenge Strategy faced was finding ways to continue buying more Bitcoin after exhausting traditional funding options. By early 2025, the company had already become one of the world's largest issuers of convertible bonds and was near its limit on common stock without diluting shareholders.
To overcome this hurdle, Saylor turned to AI to design new preferred stock tools that would raise additional funds for Bitcoin purchases. The result was STRK, a Bitcoin-backed convertible preferred stock that combined traditional finance with Strategy's Bitcoin strategy.
STRK initially raised $2.5 billion through an initial public offering (IPO), followed by another $8 billion sold through a shelf registration. This brought the total sales of STRK to around $10.5 billion. Additionally, AI helped create STRC, a short-term preferred stock with a dividend that can change monthly to maintain its $100 value.
