AI-Powered Team Cuts Quantum Attack Resource Score by 86%
Over 100 participants working with AI agents have successfully reduced the resource score of a key step in a potential quantum attack on Bitcoin and Ethereum by 86%.
The reduction was achieved by cutting the challenge's resource score from 10.75 billion to 1.496 billion, according to a paper posted by Eigen Labs.
The team used AI coding agents to design and test a quantum circuit that performs a calculation needed to crack Bitcoin's cryptography.
The tests verified the circuit's calculations but did not crack a Bitcoin private key, highlighting the importance of further research in quantum-resistant cryptography.
