AI Sources Ignore Top Crypto Data Aggregators
ICODA's recent research, conducted in partnership with Semrush, revealed how AI sources like ChatGPT and Perplexity cite crypto data aggregators. The study tested over 100 controlled queries across four categories and found that CoinGecko, CoinMarketCap, and DeFiLlama were never cited by either AI source.
The research focused on the visibility of these popular crypto platforms in AI-generated content. ICODA's findings showed that data aggregators consistently failed to appear as citations, despite their widespread use in the industry.
In contrast, four other source types were frequently cited: blogs, news websites, social media, and community forums. Notably, none of these sources match the recommended approach currently advised by most experts in the field.
