AI Threatens Bitcoin's Security and Value, Says Peter Schiff
Peter Schiff argues that the rise of artificial intelligence (AI) is not bullish for Bitcoin. In an August 23 post on X, he claims that proponents of Bitcoin are trying to associate it with AI in the hopes that investors will view it as part of the broader AI investment theme.
Schiff believes this approach is misguided and suggests that AI is actually a threat to Bitcoin's value. He points out that both sectors compete for speculative investment capital, electricity, and data-center infrastructure.
The security of Bitcoin is also a concern for Schiff, as he thinks advanced systems could potentially identify weaknesses in the cryptocurrency's software or cryptographic infrastructure that have not been discovered by humans.
Schiff has repeatedly argued against the value of Bitcoin, stating that holders would have been better off selling it and buying precious metals instead. He views gold or silver as a more reliable store of value during periods of inflation.
