AI Threatens Financial Privacy: Grayscale Sees Zcash Gaining Value
The increasing use of artificial intelligence (AI) in finance has raised concerns about financial privacy. According to Grayscale, AI could lead to a new wave of concern over financial secrecy, driving demand for solutions that protect user anonymity. The firm's Head of Research, Zach Pandl, sees Zcash as one potential option for users seeking enhanced financial privacy.
Pandl notes that public blockchains like Bitcoin are transparent by default and can be linked with off-chain information, increasing the risk of de-anonymization. In contrast, Zcash offers shielded transactions using zero-knowledge cryptography to conceal both addresses involved in a transaction and the amount being transferred.
Grayscale believes Zcash's privacy features could become a 'must-have' for users prioritizing financial secrecy. While the firm acknowledges that ZEC has surged about 20 times in the past year, it still accounts for less than 1% of Bitcoin's market cap.
