Akinyele Breaks Down XRP Ledger Future Plans at XRP Seoul 2026
Ripple's Senior Director of Engineering J.A. Akinyele will be speaking at the upcoming XRP Seoul 2026 event, where he is expected to shed light on the future plans for the XRP Ledger. The event, hosted by XRPL Korea with Ripple as Title Sponsor, is scheduled to take place on October 3 at Grand Hyatt Seoul. Akinyele leads the development of AI, privacy, scalability, and institutional-grade infrastructure for the XRP Ledger, making him well-positioned to discuss what's next for the XRPL ecosystem.
The recent launch of the XRP Ledger version 3.3.0 introduced six new amendments for voting, including Confidential Transfer, Batch, Sponsor, Permission Delegation, Dynamic MPT, and fixCleanup, which includes bundled fixes. The upgrade also brought about non-feature amendment changes, such as a 15% reduction in memory usage and improved online_delete performance. Over 60 bugs were fixed through the AI red team effort.
RippleX software engineer Mayukha Vadari highlighted the various small fixes, refactors, and improvements introduced through the upgrade, which are relatively invisible to users but help make xrpld incrementally better and easier to maintain. The upgrade also included an upgrade from C++20 to C++23 and retired old amendments that had been activated for over 2 years.
