A cross-chain bridge connecting the Alephium (ALPH) network to Ethereum (ETH) and BNB Chain was breached, resulting in a loss of approximately $815,000 in just seven minutes.

The attackers exploited an off-chain backend flaw, not stolen guardian keys as initially thought, to drain funds from the TokenBridge on both chains.

Alephium has halted the bridge and promised to repay affected users, with a full postmortem due this week.

The incident marks another blow to cross-chain bridges, which have been targeted in recent attacks. In May alone, over $52 million was stolen from such breaches.
