$ALGO Surges as Algorand Foundation Announces Key Developments
Algorand's price surged by over 9% before easing back to around $0.085, according to CoinGecko. The token remained up roughly 7% over the past day, with trading volume increasing alongside the rally.
The Algorand Foundation and ecosystem projects announced a series of developments that contributed to the buying activity. One catalyst was the rollout of the GoPlausible x402 Facilitator, which has accelerated adoption of the x402 machine-to-machine payment standard on Algorand.
According to GoPlausible, the facilitator has already processed more than $111,832 in settled payments across 160,416 transactions, maintaining a 100% settlement success rate. A developer campaign offering $100,000 in USDC and 500,000 $ALGO in rewards for building paid x402 endpoints on the Algorand Virtual Machine also encouraged new development.
Additionally, an institutional paper co-authored by Staci Warden, CEO of the Algorand Foundation, urged regulated financial institutions to validate transactions directly on public blockchains. The report argued that banks seeking secure and trusted blockchain infrastructure should participate as validators because their involvement strengthens the security of public networks.
