Algorand Leads in Quantum Security, but Ripple Targets Full Readiness by 2028
Algorand is making significant strides in quantum security by deploying Falcon post-quantum signatures and quantum-secure accounts. However, its consensus system still relies on cryptography vulnerable to quantum attacks. Algorand aims to achieve full quantum resilience by the end of 2027.
Ripple's XRPL, on the other hand, is taking a broader approach to address quantum security. The network is working with Project Eleven to assess and upgrade validators, custody, wallets, and networking. This effort targets full post-quantum readiness by 2028.
XRPL also benefits from native key rotation, which could ease future migrations. Both networks are advancing on different fronts in the race to quantum security, which involves multiple network layers beyond just wallet signatures.
