Algorand Leads Quantum Computing Prep with Over 140K Live Transactions
The crypto industry is racing to prepare for quantum computing threats, and Algorand has emerged as a leader in this effort.
With over 140,000 quantum-resistant transactions processed on its mainnet since November 2025, Algorand is ahead of many competitors, including Sei Network, which only has a draft proposal for post-quantum signatures.
Algorand's use of Falcon signatures, a NIST-selected post-quantum scheme, has been live on mainnet since 2025, while Sei's SIP-5 is still in the drafting stage and not implemented on mainnet yet.
The size of Algorand's Falcon signatures is significantly smaller than those proposed by Sei, with a range of 640 to 1,280 bytes compared to Sei's 2,420 bytes. This could have significant implications for bandwidth demands at high throughput levels.
