Algorand Names Former Chainlink Executive William Herkelrath as New CEO

Algorand Foundation has announced the appointment of William Herkelrath as its new executive director, effective August 31. He takes over from Staci Warden, who held the position for nearly five years.

Herkelrath co-founded K3 Labs and previously worked at Chainlink and Curv. His background spans both technical infrastructure and institutional adoption, areas that Algorand identifies as priorities for its next phase.

Algorand has already taken steps to prepare for the threat of quantum computing by incorporating post-quantum signatures through Falcon-1024 in its v42 consensus update. Post-quantum accounts on Algorand are active today and running in production, according to Herkelrath.
