Algorand Names William Herkelrath CEO to Lead Quantum Push
Algorand has named William Herkelrath as its new CEO, tasked with leading the network's push into institutional and quantum-resistant infrastructure.
Herkelrath brings over two decades of experience across AI, enterprise software, institutional finance, and blockchain to his new role.
He succeeds Staci Warden, who led the Algorand Foundation for nearly five years.
The move comes as Algorand tries to capitalize on its post-quantum cryptography research, which could give it a competitive edge with financial institutions.
Algorand's latest consensus work introduces Falcon accounts, which bring native post-quantum signatures deeper into the protocol, reducing reliance on elliptic-curve cryptography vulnerable to quantum attacks.
