Algorand Network Sees 30% Surge in Active Wallets Amid Mixed Metrics
The Algorand (ALGO) network saw significant growth in August 2026, with active wallets increasing by 30% to 677,000. This is one of the largest month-over-month increases in user participation for the blockchain this year.
However, other metrics showed a more complex picture. The stablecoin market cap declined by 2.3% to $43 million, while ALGO-denominated TVL dropped 1.7% to 790 million ALGO. In contrast, USD-denominated TVL grew 4.7% to $67 million.
Two major initiatives were launched on Algorand in August: quantum-resilient accounts and transactions, and the agentic commerce framework. Quantum-resilient features saw early adoption with 1,800 new accounts and 1.24 million transactions in just 19 days.
The agentic commerce framework recorded $174,000 in settled payments across 615,000 transfers during its first full month. This highlights growing developer interest in leveraging Algorand's infrastructure for novel applications.
