Algorand Sees 30% Surge in Active Wallets Amid Mixed Metrics
Algorand's (ALGO) user participation surged in August as active wallets jumped by 30% to over 677,000. The sharp increase marks one of the most significant increases in user engagement for the blockchain this year.
The growth in active wallets is a positive sign for the Algorand ecosystem, but it contrasts with other metrics that showed mixed results. While USD-denominated total value locked (TVL) rose 4.7% to $67 million, ALGO-denominated TVL dropped 1.7% to 790 million ALGO.
The stablecoin market cap also contracted slightly, falling by 2.3% to $43 million. However, the rollout of quantum-resilient accounts and transactions saw early adoption with 1,800 new accounts and 1.24 million transactions in just 19 days, indicating a high level of engagement from initial users.
Agentic commerce, launched in late July, recorded $174,000 in settled payments across 615,000 transfers during its first full month. The average transaction size of $0.28 aligns with expectations for frequent, low-value payments in agent-driven ecosystems.
