The Algorand Foundation has announced that former Chainlink and Curv executive William Herkelrath will be taking over as its new CEO. He succeeds Staci Warden, who led the foundation for five years.

Herkelrath brings over two decades of experience in AI, enterprise software, institutional finance, and blockchain infrastructure to the role.

The Algorand Foundation aims to position itself for greater institutional adoption, particularly in tokenization and payments. Herkelrath's background at Chainlink and Curv is seen as relevant in this effort.

The network has also been working on post-quantum security, introducing quantum-resistant accounts via its v42 consensus upgrade.
