Algorand's Rocca Wallet Framework Powers Pera Wallet and AC2 Protocol
The Algorand Foundation has made significant progress on its Rocca Wallet framework, a white-label solution for building customizable crypto wallets. This modular infrastructure solves complex wallet challenges like secure key storage and decentralized identity. Teams can use Rocca as a foundation to launch branded wallets without rebuilding core functionalities from scratch.
Pera Wallet 7.0, launched in August 2026, represents the first major implementation of Rocca. The wallet was rebuilt entirely on Rocca's infrastructure, consolidating separate iOS and Android codebases into a single React Native app. This resulted in a more streamlined, user-friendly experience backed by robust security features.
The AC2 Wallet, built on Rocca, takes the framework in a different direction. It integrates with the AC2 Protocol (Agentic Communication & Control Protocol) to enable secure, cryptographically provable interactions between human users and AI agents. This innovation highlights Rocca's versatility, extending beyond consumer wallets to emerging use cases like AI governance.
The Algorand Foundation confirmed more projects are in the pipeline, including a Digital Chess ID launching later in 2026 and a new product by GoPlausible.
