Alipay's Parent Company Delves into Stablecoin-Related Initiatives in Hong Kong
Alipay's parent company Ant Group is laying out its AI payment strategy in mainland China while advancing stablecoin-related initiatives in Hong Kong.
According to Ant Group's CEO and Alipay Chairman Han Xinyi, the exploration paths for global AI payments can be categorized into four categories: payment technology platforms represented by Stripe, cryptocurrency companies represented by Circle and Coinbase, traditional card organizations represented by Visa and Mastercard, and AI platforms represented by Google and OpenAI.
However, a closer look at the second category reveals that Han Xinyi is discussing the use of cryptocurrency as a payment medium in a way that contrasts with the cautious tone on cryptocurrency in China over the past year.
Ant has already bet big on AI payments, with Alipay's AI payment transactions exceeding 300 million by the end of May 2026, covering 95% of mainstream general-purpose intelligent agent frameworks.
