Alpen Labs Reaches Milestone with Over 21 Partners Integrating on Testnet III
Alpen Labs has reached an important milestone in its development of Bitcoin-native DeFi infrastructure. The company announced that over 21 partners have begun integrating on Testnet III, its testing environment built on Bitcoin Signet. This testnet is the latest step towards a mainnet launch and allows for stress-testing of the Strata bridge, Alpen's core infrastructure piece.
The Strata bridge uses a 1-of-N trust model, which only requires one operator to remain honest for the bridge to stay secure. This is a lower trust assumption than most bridges in crypto, making it more secure. Testnet III also features a publicly usable garbled circuit-based Bitcoin verifier, a cryptographic technique that enables stronger privacy and security guarantees.
One of Alpen's key partnerships is with Liquity, which is developing the Bitcoin Dollar (BTD), a BTC-backed stablecoin. The public testnet went live on August 4, 2025, and the partner announcement was made on July 28, 2026.
