Alphabet Shares Rise as DOJ AdX Sale Bid Rejected
Alphabet's (GOOGL) stock price rose by approximately 1% on Wednesday after a federal court denied the Department of Justice's (DOJ) request to mandate the sale of Google's AdX advertising platform.
The decision, handed down by Judge Leonie Brinkema, rejected the DOJ's petition for a divestiture and instead required Alphabet to implement operational modifications within its advertising business framework. The specifics of these adjustments remain undisclosed due to a sealed ruling.
This marks the second time the DOJ has attempted to compel an Alphabet divestiture, with the first challenge targeting Google's commanding search engine market position also concluding without corporate dissolution.
Despite the DOJ's efforts, Wall Street remains optimistic about Alphabet's prospects. With 30 analysts tracking the equity recommending a Strong Buy rating, the mean analyst price objective stands at $422.59, representing approximately 23% potential appreciation from present trading levels.
