Altcoin Market Rebounds on Catalysts, But Trend Reversal Remains Uncertain
The altcoin market has rebounded from recent war fears and profit-taking pressure, with over 200 of the top 300 tokens by market capitalization posting gains. However, it's too early to call a trend reversal due to limited trading volume and stablecoin net inflows. The rebound is focused on tokens with distinct catalysts such as exchange listings, mainnet upgrades, and DePIN adoption.
Among the top 10 coins by weekly gains, PONS soared 445%, followed by MARSCOIN at 229%, Helium at 221%, and USELESS at 216%. PONS' surge is attributed to its listing on KuCoin late last month and increasing launchpad trading. The token generated $5.95 million in fees on September 1 alone.
Other notable gainers include AKE (90.3%), SKR (88.7%), Arbitrum (51.8%), Uniswap (36.1%), CHIP (52.6%), and MultiversX (35.4%). In contrast, tokens such as ANSEM, PLSX, HEX, FARTCOIN, CAP, ZANO, PLS, POL, and JTO experienced losses.
Despite the rebound, global net liquidity remains below its 2021-2022 peak, with a current value of around $25 trillion. This suggests that liquidity conditions are still not strong enough for capital to spread broadly across the market. Additionally, macro conditions and policy uncertainty may limit the rebound's momentum.
