Altcoin Rally Fails to Signal Market Shift
Financial analysts at Glassnode have cast doubt on claims that a large-scale capital inflow into altcoins has begun, despite recent gains in the market. According to their analysis, altcoin prices have increased by only 21% over the past month, which is still slower than Bitcoin's upward performance.
In particular, Glassnode emphasizes that strong price increases alone do not necessarily signal an overheating period for altcoins. During previous market peaks, they point out, there was a significant flow of capital into higher-risk altcoins that outpaced Bitcoin's growth.
However, the company's analysis suggests that this scenario has not yet played out in the current market. Instead, the recent rally is characterized by a broad-based uptrend across the crypto market as a whole, with large-cap cryptocurrencies driving the movement.
Glassnode warns investors to look beyond Bitcoin dominance and altcoin market capitalization when assessing the market cycle. They suggest that a more telling indicator of an altcoin overheating period would be an acceleration of capital flows towards higher-risk assets and a decline in Bitcoin's market share.
