Altcoin Rally Loses Steam as Ethereum, Solana Prices Drop
The altcoin market is experiencing a downturn after its August rally. Ethereum, which had been one of the top performers during the surge, has fallen by around 2% in recent days. This decline comes despite several bullish developments, including Bitmine's purchase of 28,086 ETH, bringing its treasury to nearly 4.9% of Ethereum's total supply.
Additionally, Spot ETH ETFs saw $218 million in inflows, and Vitalik Buterin proposed a new EIP-8141, aiming to simplify stablecoin transactions by reducing users' need to hold ETH specifically for gas fees. However, these positive signals have not been enough to stem the decline in Ethereum's price.
Solana has also seen its price drop by 4% despite activating its Transaction V1 upgrade, which improves its ability to handle larger and more complex DeFi transactions. The activation of this upgrade had raised hopes that Solana would see a significant increase in adoption and usage.
