Altcoin Season Hype Hits Reality Check as Most Tokens Remain Buried

Bitcoin's price surge has sparked talk of an altcoin season, but one key metric suggests the hype may be premature.

The leading crypto asset BTC rose 23.6% over the last seven days, while ethereum ETH climbed 31.2%. However, several smaller tokens have seen even more dramatic gains: Pump PUMP jumped 99%, and Ethena ENA blasted 98.57% higher.

Despite these gains, many altcoins remain far below their former peaks. For instance, PUMP still needs to climb 39.7% to reclaim its all-time high, while ENA faces an even steeper 89.2% climb.

Zcash ZEC is one notable exception, rising 75.15% this week and trading at a fresh peak.
