Altcoin Season Index Hits 28 as Bitcoin Remains Market Leader
The Altcoin Season Index, a closely watched metric by CoinMarketCap, rose to 28 on Wednesday, up from 26 the previous day. This minor increase suggests that despite some movement, Bitcoin remains firmly in control of the cryptocurrency market.
The index calculates performance by comparing Bitcoin's price against the top 100 altcoins over a 90-day period. An altcoin season is declared when 75% of these coins outperform Bitcoin over this time frame.
Currently, only a small minority of altcoins have surpassed Bitcoin's performance in the past three months, indicating a broader trend of risk aversion or preference for the largest digital asset.
