Altcoin Surge: Zcash Leaps 17% Amid Broader Crypto Market Rally

The total crypto market cap has surged to $2.8 trillion, up 3.9% in the past 24 hours, following a significant move by Bitcoin that broke above $81,000.

Roughly $140 million in crypto shorts were liquidated within an hour as BTC broke through this key level, with Bitcoin trading at $80,958.93 and up 5.6% on the day.

However, the bigger story is how far altcoins are outperforming Bitcoin's already strong move, with Zcash leading the pack by surging 17.7% in 24 hours to trade at $943.48.

Crypto trader Michaël van de Poppe pointed to a pattern where momentum tends to rotate into altcoins when Bitcoin stalls within a range, and this rotation appears to be accelerating rather than pausing.
