Altcoins Grab 65% of Binance Trading Volume Amid Record $135 Billion Influx
Altcoins have seized their largest share of trading activity on Binance in more than two years, capturing 65% of total volume as a powerful Bitcoin rally pushed roughly $135 billion into the broader cryptocurrency market.
The surge marks a decisive shift in trader behavior, with capital rotating rapidly beyond the two dominant digital assets into a wide range of smaller tokens. While the world's largest cryptocurrency supplied the initial momentum, it was alternative digital assets that ultimately captured the lion's share of exchange activity.
CryptoQuant analyst Darkfost tracked the capital shift using Total2, an index that measures the combined market capitalization of all cryptocurrencies except Bitcoin and Ethereum. The metric gained approximately $135 billion over a short window, underscoring how quickly money moved into lesser-known coins and tokens.
At the peak of altcoin dominance on Binance, Bitcoin represented just 21% of trading volume while Ethereum accounted for 13.6%. The stark divergence highlighted a rapid redistribution of liquidity across the crypto ecosystem.
