Altcoins Surge, But Many Remain Far Below All-Time Highs
Altcoin prices have surged in recent days, with some even reaching fresh peaks. Zcash (ZEC) is up 75.15% this week and trading at a new high of $851. However, most altcoins still need to climb significantly to reclaim their all-time highs. For instance, PUMP needs to rise by 39.7%, while ENA requires an 89.2% increase.
The Altcoin Season Index has risen to 43, up from a low of 25 in May. But this is still below the threshold needed for confirmation, which is 75%. The index measures the performance of top 50 coins over a 90-day period, with PUMP and ENA being the standout performers.
Despite the hype around Altcoin Season, some experts warn that most altcoins remain buried far below their former peaks. Bitcoin's proximity to its record high serves as a reminder of how much ground many altcoins still have to recover. Meanwhile, Google searches for 'altcoin' remain lukewarm, with interest at just 26 out of 100 over the past 12 months.
