Amazon's AWS Growth Surges on Enterprise AI Spending
Amazon's cloud computing division, AWS, posted impressive growth in Q2 2026, with revenue reaching $42.2 billion, a 37% year-over-year increase. This marks the strongest growth rate for AWS in 18 quarters.
CEO Andy Jassy attributed the acceleration to elevated enterprise AI spending, noting that both Amazon's AI and chips businesses have now crossed $25 billion in annualized run rates.
AWS operating margins expanded to 39.4%, producing $16.6 billion in operating income from the cloud segment alone.
Amazon raised its full-year capital expenditure forecast to $220 billion, which may raise questions about the competitive positioning of decentralized compute networks like Akash and Render.
