AMC Slams Robinhood Over Tokenized Shares

Share

AMC Entertainment CEO Adam Aron has expressed strong disapproval over Robinhood's tokenized product linked to AMC shares. According to Aron, AMC has no connection to Robinhood's effort involving tokenized real-world assets and Stock Tokens, despite a product carrying the company's name and tracking its publicly traded shares.

Aron described the practice as 'contemptible' and 'outrageous', adding that the company will ask outside securities counsel to examine the matter. He emphasized that AMC's publicly traded shares are distinct from Robinhood's blockchain-based financial product, which provides economic exposure to their price but does not give holders ownership or shareholder rights.

This is not the first instance where a company has objected to a Robinhood product carrying its name without its participation. OpenAI previously rejected Robinhood tokens linked to the private company, stating that they were not OpenAI equity and had not been endorsed by the firm.
