AMC vs Robinhood: Tokenized Stock Dispute Ignites Blockchain Questions
AMC Entertainment CEO Adam Aron is at odds with Robinhood over the creation and trading of a token linked to the theater chain on the brokerage's platform. The token, which allows users to buy a portion of AMC stock, was created without AMC's involvement, sparking controversy.
Aron described the practice as 'contemptible' and 'outrageous', stating that Robinhood should stop trading the token. He expressed concern over who can create tradable blockchain versions of public-company shares.
Riverbank co-founder Vlad Tenev responded to Aron's criticism, asking 'What's the concern?' in a statement on X.
