AMD Unleashes Kria Robotics Board with 3.4x Nvidia Speed Boost
At its Advancing AI 2026 event in San Francisco on July 23, AMD unveiled an integrated robotics board called Kria that boasts a significant speed advantage over Nvidia. The new Ryzen AI Embedded X100 Series processors form the core of this platform, which combines a CPU, GPU, NPU, and FPGA into a single unified memory architecture.
This integration enables each compute element to share the same memory pool, eliminating the need for data transfer between separate chips. AMD is directly comparing its platform with Nvidia's Jetson Thor T5000, claiming a 3.4x advantage in real-time processing capabilities, 2.3x more concurrent agents running simultaneously, and 1.6x more spare CPU capacity.
The X100 platform also offers improved FP32 performance in specific signal-processing tasks, with a 3x boost. It runs on the COM-HPC standard, an open hardware specification that allows developers to swap out modules without redesigning entire systems.
