AMD Unlocks 500 MW AI Data Center Capacity with Core Scientific Deal
Core Scientific has announced a strategic partnership with AMD that will provide the chipmaker with access to over 500 megawatts of AI-ready data center capacity starting in 2027. This is just the beginning, as the deal also includes room to scale up to a staggering 2.5 gigawatts.
In addition to this massive expansion, AMD received warrants for up to 30 million shares of CORZ stock at an exercise price of $23.47 per share. These warrants will vest based on actual megawatts contracted, meaning AMD has to commit to real capacity before it can cash in.
This deal marks a significant shift for Core Scientific, which emerged from bankruptcy in early 2024 after the crypto winter nearly ended it. Today, the company is fielding billion-dollar-scale infrastructure deals with one of the world's largest semiconductor companies.
