Americans' Trust in Government Hits All-Time Low Amid Growing Corruption Concerns
A recent Gallup survey has revealed that Americans' views on government corruption have hit an all-time low since Trump came back into office. The survey found that 89% of U.S. adults believe government corruption is widespread, a 10-point increase from last year.
This surge in concern about government corruption can be attributed to the growing unease among Democrats. According to the survey, 91% of Democrats now say corruption is widespread, up significantly from 57% in 2024 when Biden was still president.
The figures for independents are also notable, with roughly 90% saying corruption is widespread, a 12-point increase since 2024.
Trump's financial dealings have been a major point of contention. He pulled in more than $2.2 billion in year one of his second term, with much of that money coming from less traditional sources, including his crypto business. An investment firm linked to the United Arab Emirates bought up almost half of his main crypto company, sparking accusations that foreign money is influencing U.S. policy.
Congress has taken notice of these developments, with Rep. Jamie Raskin releasing a report in November claiming Trump and his family profited heavily from the rollback of crypto regulations meant to protect Americans from scams.
