USA₮, Tether's US-regulated stablecoin, maintained a surplus of $660,000 in its reserves as of July 31. According to Anchorage Digital Bank, which issues and custodies the token, the reserve backing consisted of $175.91 million in cash and reverse repurchase agreements secured by US Treasuries.

The excess buffer has roughly doubled since April when supply grew approximately 540% to around 140.85 million tokens. This suggests that the overcollateralization buffer is scaling alongside adoption rather than eroding, unlike some concerns in the past.

Monthly attestations from a federally chartered bank provide transparency by design, addressing a structural gap that has long made institutional players cautious about stablecoins.

Tether's other stablecoin, USDT, operates at an entirely different scale with hundreds of billions of tokens in circulation globally. USA₮ was built to comply with US stablecoin regulations, specifically the GENIUS Act, which mandates liquid reserves for domestically issued stablecoins.
