Anthropic Deploys Computing Power at Hut 8's Texas Campus
Anthropic has announced plans to deploy computing power at Hut 8's Beacon Point campus in Texas. The move is part of a multibillion-dollar deal with cloud provider Lambda, which will install Nvidia's accelerators at the site and provide services to Anthropic.
The project involves approximately $35 billion worth of capacity in Texas, specifically around 350 MW. This capacity will be leased by Nvidia from Hut 8, according to The Wall Street Journal.
Shares of Hut 8 have fallen to $76.22 as a result of the news, dipping into the 'red zone'. This development marks a significant shift in revenue streams for Hut 8, with cloud AI services now surpassing income from Bitcoin mining for the first time, according to IREN's August report.
