Anti-Human Trafficking Group Opposes Crypto Regulation Bill
A bill aiming to clarify digital asset regulations and provide stronger consumer protections in the US has hit opposition from an anti-human trafficking group.
The Digital Asset Market Clarity Act of 2025, which passed the House months ago, aims to define cryptocurrencies and require cryptocurrency brokers and dealers to register with the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC).
The bill also clarifies the roles of the CFTC and the Security and Exchange Commission in regulating digital assets.
An anti-human trafficking group is urging senators to tank the bill due to a provision that creates a safe harbor for developers and providers of digital asset technology or blockchains, exempting them from registering as money transmitters and certain anti-money laundering safeguards.
