Anti-Trump Group Backs Cryptocurrency Bill Amid Democrat Opposition
An anti-Trump African-American organization, the National Black Church Initiative (NBCI), is pushing for Congress to pass the Clarity Act, a bill that sets legal boundaries for cryptocurrencies. The NBCI has a membership of 27.7 million members and 150,000 African-American churches.
The group's president, Reverend Anthony Evans, has been vocal in his opposition to President Trump, calling him 'the biggest racist since Bull Conner'. However, the NBCI is now supporting the Clarity Act, which aims to provide certainty for American developers and companies.
Lindsay Fraser, chief policy officer for the Blockchain Association, said that the BA supports the bill because it advances two critical priorities: stronger consumer protections and greater economic opportunity. The BA represents over 100 companies building the blockchain space across the US.
