Apple CEO Tim Cook has confirmed that he owns cryptocurrency, but emphasized that it's just part of his personal investment portfolio.

Cook made the comments during an interview at The New York Times' DealBook Online Summit on Tuesday, where he also stated that Apple wouldn't be investing its $200 billion cash reserve into Bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies.

'It's reasonable to own it as part of a diversified portfolio,' Cook said when asked about his personal investment in cryptocurrency. 'I've been researching it for a while and I think it's interesting.'

Cook clarified that he wasn't planning on using Apple's treasury funds to invest in cryptocurrencies, saying 'I don't think people buy Apple stock to get exposure to crypto.'
